Tomorrow is Sunday again, which means we have yet another opportunity to gather for worship and care for one another as the body of Christ. As I set my face toward Sunday, I am praying the following and would love for you to join me:
God, who so loved the world that you sent your only Son to die for us, empower us to meet and worship tomorrow with such sacrificial tenderness. Soften our hearts toward those singing beside us, and toward the songs we sing. Teach us to lift up our voices to you in mighty hymns and simple choruses—in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs both old and new. Help us to look beyond ourselves and our preferences, and to sing out of service to those around us. Lead us to pray for one another even as we praise you. Let us learn to sing even our least favorite songs out of submission to our church body—and fill us with deeper love for one another as we do so. In the name of our Loving Heavenly Father, our Sacrificial Savior, and the Spirit who empowers both Christian love and singing, Amen.
